Concavity i get!!!!

1. the function is increasing at (-2,0)U(o,2) because all the out puts are Positive!
(&= infinity... hahah couldn't find the symbol)
The funcion is decreasing at (-&, -2)U(2,&) because all the outputs are negative!

i can tell because i use the ARROW test . if the arrow is going up to get to the output its positive, if the arrow is going down to its utput its negative

2. the etremas are at x=-2,0,2 because at those points at output is zero. since the derivative is the slope then its when there is a change from + to - or the other way around.

3. Using the derivative, the function is concave up at (-&, 1.30)U(0,&). we know this because of the concavity test which said if f '' (x) >0 its concave up (the slope is increasing f '(x))!
its concave down at (-1.30,0)U(1.30,&) because the slope is decreasing.

with the graph i can tell because if it holds water its concave up and if it spills water its convace down
concavity test!

4.i drew it on a paper and it looks like f '(x) = x^4 so i think the function is (x^5)/5 because if you do the chain rule it would bring down the exponent(5) and multiply it with the coefficient of the variable wich is (1/5) and then that would become 1 . then you take the exponent that it had (5) and subtract by 1. your left with x^4.

NOT FUNCTION!

1. Which mindset do you think you are a part of when it comes to "intelligence"? According to the reading, what tells you that you are of this mindset?

I think i have a Fixed Mindset and Growth Mindset. I most times avoid challeges but in other occasions i go for them. Mostly i have a fixed mindset when i am under alot of stress! Like now. I hate being under stress. it makes me NOT function.

2. How has this mindset helped or hurt you in math?
Its hurting me right now. I am under soooo much pressure i cant think. I get some things from calculas but with first responders and US history i cant do anything!.
i need help!

3. What is your reaction to finding out that the brain is just a big muscle that can be trained?
It made me feel stupid because it doesnt take much forme to learn thing. If the brain is just a muscle i can succeed in math but i can't with Stress.

4. How do you see this new piece of information affecting your future?
I will have this in my head and it will beat me down. Knowing that training my brain i can easily succed but it might help.

X=C

1. The difference between finding the limit of a function as x=c and pluging in x=c is that finding the limit at x=c your finding a coordinate as you approach x from both sides. meaning it doesn't exist so ur trying to get as close as possible to get an answer. there has to be a domain issue.. i think
just plugging x=c to the function, that is the answer. because it actually exists.

2.the similarities between finding the slope and the derivative is nothing because they are the SAME. your finding the SLOPE. the difference between them is the derivative is finding the slope of the tangent line in that function the slope is the slope .

I HATE Limits :)

First of all what are limits ? what are they used for? Why are they the base of all calculus.
When Ms.Hwang Talks about limits i blank out because its like she is speaking another language.

There are simple problems like

f(x)= lim(x►1) (x^2-1)/(x-1)

1.First you foil out (x^2-1)

(x-1)(x+1)/(x-1)

2. Then the (x-1) on top and bottom cancel out and become 1.

(not ZERO)

3. Last you plug in the number that is with the limit to see if the limit exists.

(x+1) = 1+1 = 2

The limit is 2.

Another thing i dont know how to do is foiling out formulas like this

2x^2-5x-3

i was never taught that!!! I think???

so that is about it.

College 101

Majors

1. Health Professions and Related Clinical Science

Pediatricians- They specialize in the care of children till young adulthood. They provide nutritional health informaton that is appropriate for the childs weight and age. They also provide information to teens on how to use birth control, helping overweight children control their diet, giving babies immuzination shots and so on.

2. Arts, Visual, Performing

Photography- Learn the history about the camera and the different styles of photography and how a photograph, is or can become arts.

3. Animal Sciences

Animal Care Technician- Learn how to care for animals how their nutrition should be, their behavior and how the bond with a human companion.

Colleges

1.University of California: Los Angeles
-The mission of the medical education program of the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA is to prepare graduates for distinguished carrers in clinical practice, teaching, research, and public service.
-They dont have photogrphy as a class. = (
-Very big campus (judging by pictures and map)
2. University of California, Santa Barbara
- Surrounded by a lot of Water!

The websites were really hard to find what i wanted but i am also interested in schools with culinary art majors in california as well. I found The Art Institute Of California but i want a school that has both Medicine And cooking in it, but mostly Medicine.

Idiots!!! = D

Tips and Hints!

1. What i remember about transformations?

Dont know how to eplain it very well but this is how i remember.
(Here is a website that may help, Look For Tutorial #31 or 32)
http://www.wtamu.edu/academic/anns/mps/math/mathlab/col_algebra/index.htm

Example.
f(x) = (x^2 +3)-3

a) The first thing i do is identify what the original function was.

Linear Function

Domain:
Range:

Constant Function

Domain:
Range:

Quadratic Function

Domain:
Range:

Cubic Function

Domain:
Range:

Square Root Function
Domain:
Range:

Absolute Value Function

Domain:
Range:

The function is a parabola because of the x^2 (one input gives you 2 outputs)

b) Once i know what the original function was, Then i look for parentheses in the function.

The function does have parentheses.

f(x)= (x^2+3)-3

(For me, this means that there will be a horizontal shift (the function will go left of Right)

--Because there is a positive 3 the function will shift Left 3 units

--If it were to be Negative the function will shift Right

c)Once i have shifted the function horizontally, I look at the Function and see if there are any numbers outside the parentheses.

There is a number outside the parentheses.

f(x)= (x^2+3) -3

(The number outside makes the function shift vertically up or down)

---Since there is a negative 3, it will shift Down 2 units

---If the number were to be Positive, it will Shift Up

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
2. What i remember about Trig And Understand?

Trigonometry is about Triangles!!!

This is how all the The circle works. With the Functions.
Each Function being describe is what we are looking for when it comes to the Unit Circle and the Functions

This website Can help you understand more!!!
ITS CRAZY!!!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3.What i Dont unserstand?

I have trouble with unit circle and coming up with cordinates on the spot. Like if someone asks me to tell them quickly the cordinate. But thats just me and remembering things = D I think thats it.
